Reduce, reduce, reduce…

Since we will be moving from a 3500 sq. ft. house to a 1500 sq. ft. house and finally to our 912 sq. ft. house on Kauai, we have had to become brutal in reducing the amount of possessions we can keep. Craigslist has claimed a number of pieces of furniture and we are making almost daily trips to the Salvation Army to donate items that we really don’t (and probably never did) need. Furniture that had been in the family for generations was transferred to my brother to keep it in the family.

It actually feels a little like cleansing. As I let go of these things it almost feels as if weight is being taken off my shoulders, bit by bit. There is a kind of serenity in knowing that I won’t have to worry about this stuff anymore.

That being said…. moving in general just sucks! We have about 8 days until we need to move into our interim rental here in North San Diego County. So not much time to get everything boxed and ready to go.
