The first move… exhaustion and, well, exhaustion

We made the move from our house to our new rental this weekend. We are both totally exhausted. Even with as much stuff as we have gotten rid of, we still have WAY too much!!!

The new house is just packed with stuff right now and the garage is packed too. The sheer volume of junk is amazing – we took another truck FULL of stuff to the Salvation Army and it seems to have made little difference. We have now resolved to sell or donate almost everything that we don’t absolutely need – our goal is to be almost bereft of belongings by the time we move to Kauai. Just a few pieces of furniture and the bare minimum of kitchenware will have to suffice. We want our time on the island to be spent enjoying our surroundings not worrying about a bunch of stuff. Because ‘stuff’ is really all it is… it is the people you know and love and the interactions with them that should be the important things – not a new xbox or fancier phone or bigger TV.

We are learning this lesson very well right now!
