Day 1!!

We picked up our keys from Susie yesterday and headed over to Walmart for living essentials which included microwave popcorn and a 6 piece patio set that will serve as our furniture both indoor and out for our current stay.

it definitely felt a little weird walking into our Hawaii home for the first time. At least for me. It represents the culmination of months of searching, viewing and finally the process of buying and selling in order to make it happen. I can’t say enough about how helpful our realtor, Susie was every step of the way. And the mortgage broker she referred us to, Ann, was really great as well. I’ve been through the process of buying and selling a few times before and this went as well as it could have especially considering all the pieces that had to fit together in order to make it all work.

Susie was gracious enough to lend us her guest bed – as well as a bunch of other supplies and appliances to use while we are here and put together a great ‘Welcome’ basket complete with Koloa Rum and a pineapple 🙂 She also took us out to a great dinner at Roy’s in Poipu where the food and drinks were fantastic.

We didn’t get to sleep until almost midnight and it is incredible how quiet it is here in our little corner of paradise. Zero car noise…. all you can hear is the breeze and the lazy sound of palm fronds slapping together during the night. I woke up early and made a pot of coffee – I can hear a rooster or two now and then who are unable to wait until the sun comes up to start their crowing LOL.

Today we will take stock of some little things that need to be taken care of. Some screens need weather stripping so they will seal correctly and some jalousies need their mechanisms repaired.Nothing too major. We are meeting with a gardener today to set up yard service.

After that…. the beach or drinks on the lanai or….?????
