We have a move date!
A long time since my last post… I gotta pick it up!
We bought our tickets today for our final move to Kauai. We leave in the first week of April and it seems like it is forever to us. I know that things will really pick up as time goes by because we still have a million things to do. We are trying to check them off one at a time. Anyhow we have reservations for both us and our 3 cats.
We had out first garage sale this last weekend and sold not a single thing – but we didn’t advertise it very well so we are hoping that subsequent sales will get a better turnout. At least we got started and I feel good about the next few bringing in some petty cash 🙂
A couple of weeks ago we traded in our 2007 Saturn Ion and bought a 2014 Kia Soul. We think it will be a perfect complement to our truck when we move to the island. It’s small enough to buzz around the island but big enough to fit 4 comfortably. It also sits quite a bit higher than a regular coupe or sedan so visibility is improved. We got the panoramic moonroof for those great Kauai beach days.
The next month September is going to be a busy month. My band (Scaring The Wives) is playing up in a little mountain town called Julian and then playing at a street fair in Escondido and again on an outdoor terrace at a restaurant called Vintana (also in Escondido) – these are all really cool venues and we are going to make a weekend of the Julian gig. It is getting to be apple harvest season in Julian so we expect a big turnout. Should be fun!
We will also be taking a trip up to the Morro Bay area on California’s central coast to visit my brother – always a good time up there and much cooler weather than we have been experiencing down here. Looking forward to the trip but not the drive through L.A. – L.A. is like a blockade between San Diego and the rest of the state! Getting through is a real pain.
We also plan on getting our quote from Royal Hawaiian movers for shipping our belongings to Kauai soon. I’m hoping the quote will be somewhat reasonable. We’ve reduced a LOT already but are still trying to get rid of some things(hence the garage sales). Our other tasks include contacting Matson and Pasha to see about shipping our vehicles.
Well that’s it for now. I’m going to try to be more consistent with the posts.
