Three weeks to go…

We are back from our preliminary visit to Kauai to get the house set up and ready for our arrival. The cable and internet are all set and we bought a BBQ for the lanai which we put to good use while we were there. The weather flip flopped on us – it was down in the 50’s overnight and our little single wall construction house doesn’t have heating (or air conditioning). Since we brought over mostly warm weather clothing we were pretty chilly during our morning coffee!

Back in Escondido the temperature spiked up to the mid 90’s yesterday. And very dry. We left all of our warm weather clothes in Hawaii so I was forced to buy some shorts to make it a little more comfortable. Pretty funny when you think about it.

The moving truck came by and packed all of our belongings up Friday and they are on their way. It takes from 4 to 7 weeks for delivery to our house on Kauai so we will be without our things until then. That means living on borrowed furniture and air mattresses in the interim. We’ll see how our bodies hold up to the lack of comfortable furnishings.

Barb’s last week of work is coming up and she is excited to be done and moving on to a new chapter. As am I. But I would be lying if I told you that I am not stressed about this. The time is finally here and everything we have been working towards since December of 2013 is finally coming to fruition. It can be a bit intimidating.

Our new lives await us…. 3 more weeks.
