September 2020 Check In. Kauai thoughts…

It’s no secret that 2020 as been a dumpster fire of a year. COVID, civil unrest, fires across the western US and the popularity of Tiger King on Netflix have all conspired to make life feel as though the walls are closing in.

Here on Kaua’i we have been incredibly lucky that our incidence of COVID is very low. We locked down very early and have generally been the safest island in Hawaii to be on. People here generally do the right thing and social distance and wear their masks. The hospitality industry here, like the rest of Hawai’i, has been severely impacted. But generally the populace has stayed healthy and our medical capacity has not yet been tested. Kudos to Mayor Kawakami for being pro-active from the very beginning.

So I just wanted to take this opportunity to give thanks for our life on this island and all the opportunities it has afforded us.

My sincerest Aloha to everyone out there and I hope you are all staying healthy and happy.
